This photo of a turkey was taken during a visit to a place called Porchvue Winery that used to be located on a farm on the Allegheny Plateau in Western Pennsylvania. The farm had a nice-sized free-ranging chicken flock, two pairs of turkey, and two pairs of peacock. The photo of one of the male turkeys is unaltered (no editing or filters).
The turkey is a type of “Broad Breasted Turkey.” My wife who now raises Livestock Conservancy poultry on our farm believes this turkey was one of Meyer Hatchery’s Signature Broad Breasted Black Turkeys.
