I’m truly amazed by the beauty and complexity of the sunflower. I enjoy monitoring their development and this has shown me a side to them I had been missing otherwise. Prior to opening, the flowers look to me as if they’re a tightly-closed fist, uncertain of whether they should open.
I make an effort to grow sunflowers every year and I also look carefully at plants emerging in the spring. Sunflower starts are easy to spot and I typically let them grow in place. I prefer to disturb nature as little as possible.
This shot most likely has additional clarity and texture that I added using Adobe Lightroom.
